                               Charter of the City of Lake City
               8
                    Sec. 8. That the corporate authorities of said
               municipality of the City of Lake City shall be vested                8/257
               in a Mayor, City Council, Clerk, Tax Assessor,
               Tax Collector, Treasurer and Marshal, and such
               other officers as may be appointed and constituted
               by ordinance; Provided, however, The offices of
               City Clerk and Assessor may be filled by one
               person. No person shall be eligible to any of said
               offices who shall not be a citizen of the State of
               Florida, and who shall not be a resident and legal
               voter of said corporation.

                    Sec. 9. There shall be elected by the qualified
               electors of said municipality a Mayor, Clerk,
               Treasurer and Tax Collector, who shall each hold
               their respective offices for two years and until
               their successors shall be elected and qualified.

                    As amended by Chapter 5814, Act of 1907.


                    Sec. 10. That the Mayor’s compensation shall
               be fixed by ordiance, but shall not be changed dur­
               ing his term of office. He shall have power to
               preserve peace and order, and to enforce the or­
               dinances of said corporation. The Mayor shall
               have jurisdiction for the trial of all offenses against
               the ordiances of said corporation. He shall see
               that the ordinances are faithfully executed, and
               the orders of the Council duly observed and en­
               forced. He shall have power by his warrant to
               have brought before him any person or persons
               charged with a violation of the ordinances. He
               shall have power to require the attendance of
               witnesses for and against the accused; to ad­
               minister oaths, to take affidavits, and to inquire into
               the truth or falsity of all charges preferred; to
               decide upon the guilt or innocence of the accused,
